Labyrinth and Gardens

A Labyrinth is a "Unicursal"* walking path that has been used by many cultures for thousands of years. The oldest labyrinth in the United States is found in Galesteo, New Mexico and is 3,500 years old. The most well known labyrinth is located at Notre Dame de Chartres Cathedral in Chartres, France. The Chartres Labyrinth is the model for our own.
Labyrinths are used today as a way to calm the mind and relax the body. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to walk a labyrinth. We encourage you to take some time to walk our labyrinth and enjoy our meditation garden. For an in-depth look at labyrinths we suggest reading "Walking a Sacred Path" by Lauren Artress which is available in our Gift Shop.
* Unicursal paths are single pathways that lead into a center and back out from the center. You can't get lost! This is the basic difference between a maze (many paths that lead to dead ends) and a labyrinth (one path leading to a center).
