Ranging from 1.5 to 6 miles in length, each trail features lush forest terrain, and phenomenal ocean vistas or coastal access, so, no matter which route you take, you’re sure to appreciate the journey.
Sycamore Crest Trail

Approximately two miles round trip, and offers a beautiful display of California’s Central Coast's most honored features: endemic plants, colorful wildflowers, and of course, the Pacific Coastline. The hiker will explore shaded sections of scrub oaks, sycamore, and Manzanita trees on the short, steep route to a summit overlooking spectacular views of Avila Bay and Port San Luis. Next, meander along the ridge enjoying southern vistas and the smell of California coastal sage and finish the hike at a historical landmark known as Cave's Landing.

Cave’s Landing

A half-mile round trip journey that visits a small rock bridge at the end of a dramatic headland east of Avila Beach. The hike down Cave Landing to the natural tunnel sometimes called Pirate’s Cave provides outstanding coastal views over the beach cities of San Luis Obispo County. This is a short, easy, and enjoyable trek with 100 feet of elevation change – a perfect excursion for anyone staying in Avila.

The Bob Jones “City to the Sea” Trail

The Bob Jones Trail will satisfy the casual stroller, fitness walker, bicyclist, or roller blade enthusiast. It is a little less than two miles from the Resort to the charming beachside community of Avila Beach.

Ontario Ridge Trail Loop

Whether you are looking for a challenging hike or your preference is a nice little stroll, explore the coast between Avila Beach and Shell Beach on the Ontario Ridge Trail Loop. This hike, when taken from the starting point in Avila Beach, is a rugged, intermediate-level hike, sometimes steep, track crossing a 700-foot hill above the bluff and makes for a 2.8-mile loop with 675 feet of elevation gain, and spectacular ocean views. Trail Access is only one mile away, located at Cave Landing, halfway between Sycamore Mineral Springs and Avila Beach.
